Walking in Portugal
Most people know Portugal as a summer beach holiday destination, but for the discerning walker this country has a lot to offer. Rural landscapes, stunning nature parks and a lovely Mediterranean climate are just a few of Portugal’s highlights that make it a perfect walking holiday destination.
Although there are built-up areas in Portugal, especially along some of the coast, a large proportion of the country is still very quiet and rural; ideal territory for walks. Sleepy villages, ancient tracks and paths meandering through landscapes of olive groves, ancient woodlands, rugged mountain landscapes and coastal landscapes, you can explore it all on foot in Portugal.
